The Bond, 2013. 84" x 96" acrylic paint, ink and chalk on wood.
The inspiration for this wood assemblage is the historical account of the first Thanksgiving meal which consisted of venison, goose, shellfish, eel, berries, bread, watercress and corn. The hundreds of pieces that make up this installation are all cut from wood by me using a bandsaw or sabersaw, and either left unpainted as is the case with the arrows, wheat stalks and the pheasant or painted with a combination of ink and acrylic paints. I was invited to create this piece by a Bay Area interior designer. It was installed on her dining room wall in Alamo, CA.
